Show Notes
We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- ‘Empathatic Attunement’ demonstrates a next level empathy, where you respond to the the person’s perception of reality at that moment, as opposed to your own or some 'objective' view of what is real
- You are most likely to find empathetic attunement with someone who understands your situation deeply, so sometimes talking to the person sitting next to you can be more therapeutic than you realize
- Adrenaline can get you through a period of exhaustion and depletion, but it’s not sustainable, and comes at a cost
- When someone is expressing a personal hardship, be careful not to ’level up’ in the conversation - listen empathetically without trying to demonstrate how you’re also going through a similar hardship
- It’s important to feel a sense of connection, community, and belonging with the people you work with every day, because you will spend more time with them than almost anyone else
- Some people are afraid of change, but think how much more scary it is to stay the same
- If we’re not changing, we’re actually dying - whether it’s an individual or an organization
All of us, at any moment, can become a new possibility. – Peter
