Episode 5: Listening for the Compassionate Voice

Peter and Robyne discuss the importance of “refilling your bucket,” the realization that every moment is an opportunity for change, and listening to the right voice (and not just the loudest one).

Today’s surprise questions:
What is one of your favourite memories that you associate with looking at the stars?

What’s one simple, realistic thing that you can do for yourself today that might offer you tenderness, self-validation, and a stronger connection to the support available in your community?

Show Notes

We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- Taking time to do the things in your day that ‘refill your bucket’, and feeling the rejuvinative benefits immediately
- Appreciating different ’quarters’/sections of the day individually and realizing a bad day can turn around
- The concept that at any moment we can make a change, and shift our trajectory - a reminder to take that approach hour by hour throughout our day
- Being patient and trusting in yourself enough to know that in the end you’re going to figure it out when dealing with an obstacle
- Listening to the whispers in your head that tell you when it’s time to move on from a situation that isn’t working for you anymore
- When in doubt about which voice in your head to listen to, listen to the one that speaks to you with love, patience, compassion, and kindness
- The harsher more demanding voices in your head are often there to help keep you safe - they are your manager, your disciplinarian keeping you on track

At any moment we can choose, and we can find ourselves on a new path. – Peter
