Episode 6: Best. Birthday. EVER.

Peter and Robyne unpack the pressure to make our milestones feel unforgettable, discussing all of the challenges that come with accepting imperfection: sitting in discomfort, experiencing anger, and acknowledging that life gets complicated.

Today’s surprise questions:
What is a memorable entry into a place/building/stage that you’ve experienced?
What is your favourite moment interacting with trees?

Keep listening after the closing credits to find out who won Peter and Robyne’s In Time Prize Pack!

Show Notes

We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- Learning to let go of the pressure we feel to make important life events (vacations, birthdays, etc.) work out perfectly, and be the most fulfilling time we’ve ever spent
- Sitting a bit longer in our discomfort when we experience inner conflict in order to process what we’re going through rather than just pushing through it
- Not everything needs to get fixed - it’s ok to sometimes just let yourself be sad and feel that
- Reminding ourselves not to overcomplicate things, or at least to acknowledge that things ARE complicated and that that’s ok - just focus on living in the moment, rather than getting overwhelmed by the past or the future
- Holding space for your anger, and finding ways to adjust your calming/coping mechanisms to honour that anger (e.g. breathing exercises that include a swear word to acknowledge and release that anger)

The story in totality is complicated and messy (and also joy-filled and beautiful), and the present moment is so straightforward. – Robyne
