Episode 111: A Greater Connection

On today’s In Time, Peter and Robyne talk about friendship: how can we extend past friendships into adulthood, and what do we do if it feels like we missed our chance? What’s the difference between connections of convenience and alignment? And how can we invite people to be part of not only our present, but our future?

Today’s surprise question:
What is the transition to the season of spring like for you?

Show Notes

We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- Robyne discusses the history of pets in her home over the years
- Peter discusses the importance of friends you have a true connection with, and how important it is to foster friendships like that in your life
- Robyne discusses getting over her feeling that she’d missed her opportunity to have meaningful adult friendships because she’s not in contact with people from her youth
- Sometimes friendships from school are created out of convenience, and it’s not until later in life that you meet people you are friends with because you both experience a sense of alignment with each other
- Peter describes a wedding he attended where they told the guests they were invited because they were the people the bride and groom wanted to be part of their future, and how touched he was by that
- Similarly, we should try being intentional about what we want in our lives as well, and one way to do that is to just come out and ask people “I would like to have you as part of my life” - someone has to make the first step to create a greater connection

Even us ‘old dogs’—we still like to find new friendships. – Robyne
