Episode 123: Is This Home?
On a new episode, Peter and Robyne explore the many meanings of home: what does it look like, what can it mean, and how can we tap into its replenishing properties even when we’re far from our “official” address?
Today’s surprise question:
Have you come across a saying or an action that you’re able to use when you make a mistake that may be kinder than you would have used in the past?

Show Notes
We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- Robyne and Peter list various personal greetings/inquiries to replace “How are you?” - ones they can make with each other because of how close they are that they wouldn’t be able to use with just anyone (eg. How’s your heart? Are you here?)
- We are so used to interacting with people in the digital sphere that we can lose the sense of humanness interacting in person brings
- Robyne and her family find home to be a constant source of ‘replenishing’ after being out in the world
- Peter comments how you can set up a camp in a parking lot and it would still create the same connection - this also applies to your sense of ‘home’ - you can create it whether or not you are physically in that space
- Home comes in many different forms beyond bricks and mortar - it’s a place we can find rest and safety - it’s less about the location, and more about the people
- 'Mizpah' is a biblical Hebrew term Robyne like to use to reassure herself of her connection to ‘home’ - originally in the Bible it was a place where you make a covenant, but it’s since come to symbolize ‘a bond of trust and emotional connection across distance’
- We are natural-born meaning makers - we make meaning to give us a reason to keep showing up
There are so many misconceptions about what it takes to build safe, solid lives, but I really do think it’s about the people. – Robyne
