Show Notes

We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- When planning a big family event, sometimes being flexible and simply making sure everyone gets what they need most is more important than working tirelessly to create a ‘perfect’ experience
- It’s great when you’re working hard, but ask yourself…are you playing as hard? Are you resting as hard? Am I doing other things in my life with such intention? These are all equally important
- Make any rituals you have your own - no need to follow someone else’s vision - doing it your own way is what will make it special
- Ask yourself “What matters most now?”, and prioritize those things
- In all areas of our lives, we are replaceable, except with our loved ones - give into the complexity of those relationships, because they are the ones that matter the most
- Try not to either/or your work/life balance - make choices that allow both to thrive - it’s not selfish to take care of ourselves
- We sometimes have a notion that only when all the work is done are we then allowed to take care of ourselves, not realizing there are often situations where there is no end to the work being done
- If you need to, take a moment for yourself before an event/conversation to be present, rather than just jumping in and then playing catch-up

Being able to just be sensitive and aware of our own needs doesn’t make us selfish people — it’s science. We have to look after ourselves. – Robyne
