Episode 50: Carving Your Own Identity

On “In Time”’s 50th episode (goodness, where does the time go?), Robyne and Peter discuss the idea of personal identity and how the labels we attach to ourselves have a big impact, both positive, and perhaps not so much. Plus, a very special announcement of a new collaboration coming soon!

Show Notes

We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- We have a tendency to attach ‘identities’ to ourselves based on how we see ourselves, our abilities, our career paths - you can simultaneously have multiple identities - they don’t have to replace one another
- You can never fail at being yourself, and when you are being yourself you can always feel good about your contributions because whether or not they work out, you can say you were true to yourself and your convictions
- We have to be able to see ourselves as capable, but also worthy of being who we are at any level of ability, as we are learning and growing
- When we are depleted and run down we tend to do the exact opposite of what will actually restore us
- *They discuss their new asynchronous learning project called ‘Your Time’
- Making a checklist of things that you know will make you feel better when you’re anxious can give you something to refer to when life feels overwhelming
- Be compassionate to how hard it is to be a teenager in this day and age, and the learning curve they are on

It’s not that we have to reject one identity to be able to fully embrace and step into an evolution or growth identity.  Robyne
