Episode 52: Navigating the Teenage Years

Today on “In Time”, Robyne and Peter explore the infamously complex years of teenagehood, both as a parent and a child transitioning into adulthood. Plus, an investment plan for retirement, but for your body.

Today’s surprise question:
Was there a moment where you were in awe of the unexpected serendipitous forces at play that go beyond what seemingly makes rational sense?

Show Notes

We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- When selling a product, remember that if you have something worthwhile that will help people, there is no shame in trying to sell it - you are doing a service to get this product out there
- Some of us feel we need to learn things the hard way when we are faced with a challenge or a crisis. In the end, the extreme circumstances can sometimes help us to remember the lesson, but best not to make a habit of it.
- The hardest stage of parenting is the one you are in, because you’ve never experienced that stage before
- Teenagers are at a unique stage where they are half kids and half adults, while generally they still have that childlike openness to be impacted by the world
- When you make teenagers feel safe and trusted, they will often let go of their protective shell and let you in
- Your body needs to last for your whole life - it’s like an investment into your retirement, so treat your body well when you’re young so you can reap the benefits when you’re older

I love the energy they [teenagers] bring, the thoughts that they have, the passion that they show up with. It’s so rewarding, I find, because they are open to being impacted. Peter
