Episode 127: Major League Skills

On a new In Time, Peter and Robyne talk about the role that organized sports play in their lives and the lives of those close to them. Regardless of our level, what skills can we learn from the discipline, repetition, and challenge required by athleticism? How might we benefit from organized sports’ sense of camaraderie and ritual? Plus, a quick dip into Greek myth.

Show Notes

Highlights:
- Peter & Robyne discuss a bit of Greek mythology related to the places they are speaking at this week

- Peter discusses the rapturous energy he felt from the crowd and the players while attending the final game of the ALCS (American League Championship Series) when the Jays won best of seven - and though he recognizes some problematic behaviours in sports, he couldn’t deny the raw passion and energy present with all these athletes who have been training their lives for this
- Robyne finds the progression of playing sports as kids and developing skills to eventually be competing in major league sports exciting

- Robyne points out that people who feel they can't afford to be charitable when they don’t have a lot of money will most likely also not be charitable when they do

“There was something so special to just have everybody’s heartbeats beating as one.” – Peter
