Show Notes

We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- The theta brainwave state is where we are in the process of wondering - it’s not outcome focused
- We can access this theta brainwave state simply by looking at running water - a river, a sprinkler, a shower, a cat water dish fountain
- Sometimes taking a sabbatical can refresh your creativity and make you more productive than if you had just kept on working.
- While a stress-leave sabbatical may realign some good habits, when returning to a regular work week, we often return to our old habits quickly - perhaps better habits could be built if this realignment time was incorporated directly into your regular schedule through a 4-day work week, giving you the time and incentive to balance good work/life habits into your schedule weekly
- When a child/teen starts telling you something that seems concerning, rather than jumping to conclusions, respond with “Interesting - tell me more” - reserving judgement allows them to explain in detail without feeling judged, and any concerns can be dealt with afterwards
- Peter and Robyne discuss various interests they pursue that are not productive towards their lives or careers

The question I often work with and the challenge I offer myself is, “How do I have moments of reprieve, moments of renewal—in time, within the situation that is the stressor, in the work that is onerous, or in the everyday?” – Robyne
