Show Notes

We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- Beta brain waves can make you want to keep working and ignore your body’s signals to rest
- The amount and quality of work you get done when you’re fresh and rested is far greater than the work you would do when you’re exhausted
- After the 40 hour mark in the work week, there is a progressive decrease in productivity and an increase in errors, and after the 55 hour mark, our performance metrics fall off a cliff
- We often spend our workday being pleasant with our co-workers but forget to carry over that energy to the people we love and care for the most at home
- To practice appreciating your loved ones, try priming yourself before seeing them by taking a few moments to meditate and prepare yourself for how you want to show up for them
- Rather than working until something is finished and upsetting your work/life balance, try setting a hard stop time - and then leave a Post-It note on your work that gives you one task you need to do first thing the next day

Despite all of our best intentions I’m sure, we show up to the Zoom meeting with the client and we’re all smiles and good energy. And then we go to the people we love and care for the most, and we don’t give them what we really want to give them, which is the absolute best of ourselves. – Peter
