Episode 22: Ground the Self to Uplift Others

On today’s episode of In Time, Peter and Robyne offer tools to help ground oneself before a speaking engagement or any event and be able to deliver at your best every time. Plus, they discuss the often overlooked benefits of taking on a leadership role, and invite us to celebrate all the little things we do to improve ourselves.

Today’s surprise question:
What is one story that comes to mind where you feel particularly proud of something you were able to do, or someone you were able to impact?

Show Notes

We cover many topics in this episode, including:
- To quickly prepare yourself to be present for a speaking engagement, or any event, think about the energy the people in the room have invested in coming to this event, and how they are there to be uplifted by you - breathe in that energy and be thankful for the opportunity
- Another way to ground yourself and be present is to realize that at least one person in the audience needs to hear what you have to say, and then remind yourself of your responsibility to that one person
- Sometimes taking on a leadership role and being accountable to someone can really help you to embody and gain legitimacy in that leadership role, earning the respect of yourself and others
- Worrying is praying for what you don’t want to happen
- When added up, the little things we do to improve ourselves are not so little after all

If we hope to be teachers, mentors, leaders, or guides in any way, shape, or form, the number one thing that we need to do is embody the thing that it is that we’re trying to convey. – Peter
